Holiday anxiety is a real thing, especially for many entrepreneurs. I wrote a post about this on my social media this week, and I got many more responses than expected, so I am sharing it with you as well! (Btw, are we following each other on social media yet? If not, let’s connect! You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn as @realestatebynajla)
As the end of the year approaches, we enjoy lots of parties and get-togethers with friends and family. But is it all really peace and joy? Unfortunately, that is not the case for many, and if you are an entrepreneur, I am sure you may be experiencing some of these anxiety symptoms:
.
– You are giving up on your efforts to get work done but are also freaking out about what January will be like after not bringing in a “decent” income in December.
– You see the end of the year right around the corner, but you have not met your goals for 2022, so you feel like you are letting yourself down.
– You did not plan your finances accordingly and are starting to tap into credit cards to pay your regular monthly bills, frustrating you even more.
These negative feelings then become our worst enemies because it’s easy to fall into that rabbit hole where you start comparing yourself to others, blaming yourself, experiencing low self-esteem, and reducing your productivity and effectiveness because of all the pressure you put on yourself.
Well, it’s important to understand that you are not alone. We all experience these symptoms to a higher or lower degree and in different stages of our careers. But what to do about this, so it doesn’t ruin this holiday season?
First, identify what you are feeling and shine a light on it. Do not try to push the bad feelings away; just become aware of them. This will immediately break their strength.
Understand that these negative feelings have a positive intention, usually to keep you safe. Thank them for this but remind yourself that you are safe regardless of the situation.
Focus on your self-care first! This can mean a 10-minute walk, a gym session, doing your makeup, taking a long bath, or buying yourself that gift you have been dreaming of, among others. Doing nice things for yourself first will make you feel worthy, and giving this kind of love to others will be easier.
And most importantly, remind yourself that you are worthy, you are enough, have done a lot this year, and you deserve to celebrate with your loved ones.
As a Success coach, I can guide you through these emotions, find the root of them, and help you plan your 2023 with meaningful goals, so that they are exciting to work for, enjoyable, and make it the best year yet!
